Misguided men masquerading as magistrates

Betrayed” was an apt title of the Nov. 9 Inquirer editorial.

By allowing the most despicable president this country ever had to be buried as a “hero,” the nine justices of the Supreme Court made a mockery of the 1987 Constitution, a single, most vehement testament to the Filipino people’s disgust with the Marcos conjugal dictatorship.

Soon after assuming the presidency, Cory Aquino reorganized without hesitation a Supreme Court packed with Marcos lapdogs. And now they are back?

How could a small cabal of misguided men masquerading as magistrates now tell the entire nation—and the whole world, for that matter—that the 1986 People Power Revolution was a colossal mistake? Maybe it’s time they themselves got a taste of what People Power can do to their posts, perks and privileges that enable them to live and behave like capricious and whimsical demigods accountable to no one.
