Proud teacher made prouder by editorial

/ 01:15 AM October 11, 2014

I am a “21st-century teacher”—a description given to us on account of the K-to-12 curriculum, a description that we are trying to live up to despite the many problems that the education system cannot resolve till now.

I was teary-eyed when I read the editorial titled “What teachers do” (Opinion, 10/5/14). I was overwhelmed by the thought that amid the challenges we are facing right now to implement the new curriculum, someone or, maybe, many people understand our situation as teachers, after all.

With so much negative news about teachers in the media, sometimes people judge us and disrespect us. My morale was boosted because of the perfect words the editorial chose to describe us. Because the editorial noted in detail the small things we do for our students, I felt so proud being a teacher.
