Constitution does not need amendments
I do not see any pressing need to have our Constitution amended, let alone mangled by a bunch of “honorable” congressmen with dubious, if not devious, agenda. If at all, it is the need to overhaul—if not abolish—a political farce that Congress has been transformed into by self-serving, power-greedy politicians at the expense of poor Juan dela Cruz.
The 1987 Constitution doesn’t need any amendments, at least for now. If it does, the task of amending the Charter must not be entrusted into the hands of so-called “lawmakers” who would readily pass laws that ensure their hold on power and perpetuate political dynasty and freedom of disinformation, among other things, rather than craft laws with sufficient funding and enable rules for the benefit of the majority of our people particularly the poor and the powerless.
Instead, any effort to revise the Constitution should be done by patriotic constituents with more scruples than vested interests and more guts than wiles to purge our Charter of antipoor provisions, including those that grant excessive powers and perks to public officials, particularly the corrupt and inept ones.
Otherwise, the present Charter would better be left alone. And our so-called leaders and lawmakers should better be working real hard and honestly, not to change the Constitution, but to junk their insatiable greed and delusions, for the eventual good of this nation and its people.
