President Aquino has traveled abroad once again. We all know what that means: Millions of pesos more spent for him and his friends to vacation abroad, courtesy of Filipino taxpayers.
It is very disturbing that Mr. Aquino could spend millions of pesos traveling to faraway places like Paris or Rome—amazing places, might I add—yet refuses to go to places, which are just a few hours away from Manila, to visit or check on the condition of the disaster survivors, like those in Tacloban City, ground zero of Supertyphoon “Yolanda,” and those affected by the 2013 Zamboanga City siege.
I truly believe that it is not surprising that Mr. Aquino would rather go to foreign leisure havens of the rich rather than visit the poor in calamity-stricken areas of his country. If this is no example of how he prefers the rich over the poor then I don’t know what is.
