Railway service: wise investment in long run

12:03 AM June 16, 2015

To avoid another freak accident or derailment due to the rampant pilferage of bolts, angle bars and railway clips along the railroad tracks, the Philippine National Railways should consider the installation of CCTV cameras at strategic locations along the tracks from Divisoria, Manila, to Alabang in Muntinlupa City.

Another option is the putting up of perimeter fences on both sides of the PNR property to deter the nefarious activities of shady characters vandalizing the railway system of the government.

A huge amount is definitely needed to improve the efficiency, service and security aspects of the railway system, but this will surely translate into a wise investment in the long run.
