Refund claim unacted since 2008

01:02 AM July 23, 2011

MAY I request Robert Vergara, president and general manager of the Government Service Insurance System, to look into my claim for refund which I filed way back in February 2008.

In November 2003, I availed of the Emergency Assistance Loan (ELA) offered by the GSIS after which the amount of P500 per month was deducted from my salary and remitted by the Commission on Audit (COA) to the GSIS. Unfortunately, due to either inadvertence or incompetence, my monthly deduction of P500 was erroneously credited to another loan account (Emergency Loan or EL) which I did not avail myself of.

As a result, my unpaid loan (ELA) had accumulated to P24,919.74 including interest and surcharges as of Feb. 8, 2008, which I paid in full on Feb. 14, 2008 under GSIS OR No. 00053573.

Hence, this claim for refund for the amounts deducted and remitted to the GSIS. I have since requested the COA to stop my deduction. I hope Vergara can give me my refund, as well as those of other members similarly situated.
