Valentine’s Day: Things to do and remind ourselves

A few days from now, people will be celebrating Valentine’s Day. Many who are already in a relationship might renew their vows of affection and fidelity to their respective partners. Perhaps, the partners would be giving each other the sweetest hugs and kisses they could offer.

Flowers, chocolates and other gifts will be guaranteed “stars” on that special day. For those who are still courting the apple of their eyes, they might take advantage of this lovely day to further express their feelings to them.

But also, on that special day, let us remember to continue loving our work. As an educator, I must keep in mind that through teaching, I serve my purpose. I make my life more meaningful and productive. It is how I serve my country. From my work, I earn a living.

Let us remember to continue loving our skills and talents. I know that those skills and talents are sharpened through regular and constant practice. However, bear in mind that those are also God-given. Thus, those must not be used to abuse or cheat people.

Those must be used to serve and help others.

Let us remember to continue loving our health. As people say, health is wealth. No matter how young, intelligent, good-looking or rich a person is, if he is sick, everything seems so dull and difficult. Diseases do not only bring physical suffering but also psychological and emotional anguish to the patient and to his family.

On that special day, let us continue loving the opportunities that we have in our life.

Appreciate the opportunity to feel the warm touch of the morning sun, to taste the food and water we eat and drink, to cherish the air we breathe, and to experience the love being shared with us by our family and friends.
