It would be interesting to know how other countries treat their war veterans and retired military personnel.
As we write, the Philippine government still owes Filipino veterans billions of pesos in unpaid differential arrears and pension adjustments.
So that the close to a million electoral votes of veterans and military pensioners, and their surviving spouses, dependents, relatives and friends will not throw their votes on the May 13 elections to the United Nationalist Alliance, President Aquino should act on this problem.
We are not trying to intimidate our national government and extort money in exchange for the electoral votes of the veterans and military pensioners and their families and friends. We are just expressing the general sentiment of our sector in connection with the benefits due us, but which have remained unpaid for a long, long time.
