Lozano’s expelled hero

/ 12:37 AM May 06, 2011

COMPAÑERO OLIVER Lozano said the Marcoses are not plunderers. (“Edsa de-mythicized, repudiated,” Inquirer, 5/2/11) This is not only contrary to the position taken by the US courts and Swiss authorities. Of even greater importance, our own Supreme Court forfeited on July 15, 2003, hundreds of millions of US dollars in favor of our government. This ill-gotten wealth was amassed starting in 1968 by William Saunders (Ferdinand Marcos) and Jane Ryan (Imelda Marcos), et al. (406 SCRA 190)

My friend, Oliver—with whom I condole over his recent loss—makes it harder for me to explain to my new grandchildren why their Lola and Lolo fought a “hero” expelled in 1986 to world acclaim. So let us see whether the House of Representatives can pass a bill, not a resolution, for its “hero,” a gross human rights violator and kleptocrat, and see what the Senate will do. Will they reverse the popular 1986 verdict that the world hailed?

Why not enact a law changing the name of Libingan ng mga Bayani to Libingan ng mga Bayani at Pangulo?
