I am a retired teacher and an Inquirer reader since it came out in print.
I would like to congratulate the Inquirer for its appointment of Raul Pangalangan as publisher.
If the chief justice were an elective post, I would have voted for him. I felt sad when someone else was chosen. Nevertheless, I felt comforted by the knowledge that there are certainly other considerations in appointing personalities to key positions in government, such as that of chief justice, quite apart from impeccable credentials in the many fields of law.
I am happy to join the Inquirer’s faithful readers worldwide, as well as Pangalangan’s, celebrate his appointment.
