Indeed, RH bill ‘still very hot news’

09:26 PM January 06, 2012

This may be a very late “thank you” for Asuncion David Maramba for her Dec. 20, 2011 article titled “Still hot news—the RH bill.”  Yes, it is still very hot news not only in the newspapers but also in our circle where it is the subject of hot debates. I believe many people have not read the bill but just repeat what they hear from priests or other leaders.

Yes, there is too much mud all over the place. Though I try to be a good Christian, I am not so worried about the bill being passed or not; what concerns me more is the formation of conscience and Christian life especially of the families. Neither side (Church or government) has spoken of the sanctity of marriage, self-control, sacrifice, education, etc.  I have reproduced many of Maramba’s articles—“Obey, decide or drift” (Inquirer, 7/19/10); “At last, a consensus bill on population” (Inquirer, 8/16/10); “To my dear student-priests” (Inquirer, 10/29/ 10); “Condoning the condom” (Inquirer, 12/1/10)—and distributed them. I circulate them. They are very enlightening. This last one is very comprehensive. I’d like to thank her again and again. My prayers for her as an expression of my gratitude.
