Filipinos should seek justice in 2022 polls

/ 04:01 AM July 28, 2020

I agree with Manuel L. Quezon III’s sentiments (“In aid of extermination,” 7/22/20), especially about the congressmen’s desperate attempt to come up with issues against ABS-CBN hoping to shape people’s minds to their favor. However, they are the ones who are drilling themselves down. Filipinos do not trust them anymore, and it’s obvious whose wish they are granting. The move to close down ABS-CBN was never for the nation, rather only for that person they are serving.

Their tactic to confuse people has become tiring and futile. Despite their theatrics in the hearings, 75 percent of Filipinos still believe that ABS-CBN should get a franchise, according to an SWS survey. Clearly, the public doesn’t see the supposed dismantling of the oligarchs as an issue. The shutdown of ABS-CBN only deprived Filipinos of entertainment and information, and caused unemployment to thousands of workers. In this time of pandemic, is this really what they want to be remembered for?

I hope this 2022 elections, Filipinos get the justice they deserve.
