Impeachment is the ‘holy grail’

/ 05:12 AM June 22, 2018

After the great debate on the aborted impeachment and the eventual quo warranto removal of Maria Lourdes Sereno as chief justice, the dust has finally settled and the soup has finally boiled down.

And what it has boiled down to is this: Impeachment is indeed the holy grail of checks and balances.

It is a provision that should have been treated with reverence and respect, and held sacred.

It should have been treated like the birthright of an impeachable office. It should never have been tampered with, circumvented or blatantly disregarded.

Because, from now on, everyone is fair game, and we should be ready for the impending chaos.
