I don’t know why Vice President Leni Robredo is overly suspicious that President Duterte might declare a revolutionary government. Her move to ask our military officials if they will support any effort to establish it goes to show how clueless she is of what is happening in the country. She has been feeling left out because of her exclusion from significant events and that caused her ridiculous paranoia. That’s what happens when a person who is expected to help promote development in the country hinders it instead.
The buzz that the Armed Forces will not support a revolutionary government is obscure. Could they bluntly say that they will not follow their commander in chief even if declaring so would help suppress lawlessness and violence? Or are they just being polite not to upset a lady who is apparently waiting for a favorable answer? It would be hard for them to take sides, but since they are known to be principled and patriotic, I suppose that they will do whatever they feel is right to attain and maintain stability in the country.
This, really, should not be a big issue as its probability is still unknown. The Vice President may just be unduly frightened because if the President declares so, she will automatically lose her significance in the government. But what will she lose in the first place? Her role, as I see it, is merely ornamental. I voted for this woman thinking that the leading rowdy presidential candidate will be subdued by a motherly auxiliary. But I was wrong. Very wrong. I would rather be ruled by a dirty-mouthed father whose intentions are for my own good than be held by a refined mother who prioritizes her “other family” over her own.
