Pray for leaders’ discernment

05:01 AM December 20, 2017

The Religious Discernment Group is making an appeal to all Filipinos and friends of the Filipino people to pray for our leaders, notwithstanding the unlikelihood of voluntary conversion.

Let us pray for a miracle. After all, this is what faith is all about: To believe that for God nothing is impossible. Let us do everything within our reach and convince our leaders—civil, religious and military — sworn to serve all Filipinos, to recognize that the imposition of martial law anywhere in the Philippines is not the way to progress and peace for our country but would lead to further violence, chaos, destruction and death.

Let us pray for the military, the soldiers especially, that they be true to their sacred calling to protect and defend the lives of every man, woman and child in this country — sinner or saint, addicted or not, rich or poor, corrupt or honest, every human being that walks this proud land of Rizal and Bonifacio.

Let us pray that all Filipinos awaken to the reality that the nation is living in dangerous times, that our democratic way of life is threatened, that the continuing violation of the sanctity of life is killing our human sense of solidarity, empathy and morality.

FEATURED STORIES

All humans, regardless of their status in society, are the daughters and sons of a merciful God. We Filipinos, may we be of different beliefs and faith traditions, are all called to take a clear stand for life and reject death and evil in all their manifestations, subtle and blatant.

Let us pray that the blood of the victims of repression, the martyrs of our struggle for true sovereignty — of Fr. Tito Paez and countless others — may not have been shed in vain and that their commitment serve to inspire all Filipinos to seek justice, freedom and peace for all.
