The Inquirer’s editorial, “To steal food worth P31.50” (12/16/17), forcefully brings to fore how the poor are treated in this country.
That unfortunate event brings back to those who love books and justice Victor Hugo’s “Les Misérables.” Jean Valjean is Paul Matthew Tanglao. The rest of the characters remain the same: a shop owner and the police who have very seldom taken pity on the poor. Shame, shame, shame!
