The National Federation of AUV Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines commends the efforts of President Duterte in pursuing the development of the transport infrastructure in the country, under its “Build, Build, Build” program.
Our members, composed of AUV operators and drivers from various areas of the country, have been burdened by the sore lack of infrastructure investment in the country. This has resulted in undue stress and constrained opportunities for us and our commuters, whom we service not only in metropolitan areas, but also in the many cities and provinces that support these centers of growth.
We appeal to President Duterte, through Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, to take a more comprehensive view of the transport infrastructure needs of the country. Like Metro Manila, adjacent provinces such as Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal — whose citizens our members ferry daily in and out of the metropolis — are also in dire need of transport infrastructure.
On a personal note, may I ask Secretary Villar and the Bacoor, Cavite local government unit to take action on the worsening traffic in the Molino-Daang Hari road intersection. I am a resident of Bacoor and my travel experience has been an absolute nightmare. What normally takes an hour of travel time now lasts 2-3 hours, especially during rush hours. I hope that the Department of Public Works and Highways and Bacoor city hall will build additional infrastructure along this area since it is considered as a major choke point.
Incidentally, I have been informed that there was a plan to build a flyover along the Molino-Daang Hari road intersection, but this project never materialized. I hope that our government officials will reconsider this project as the people of Bacoor will truly benefit from this.
