A thought about PDI’s Trump editorial

This is in connection with the Inquirer editorial last Aug. 9 titled “Dangerous Trump.”

I fully agree with the editorial: A Donald Trump victory in the coming 2016 US presidential election (God forbid!) could have a very serious, damaging and adverse impact on our country and the Filipino people.

It’s high time all American citizens of Filipino origin united against him not only for their own sake but for the Philippines, too.

In another vein, I noticed that one of the most (if not the most) successful Filipino-American CEOs and businesswomen in the United States was not mentioned in the editorial. Her name is lawyer Loida Nicolas-Lewis, the widow of Reginald Lewis, once the chair and CEO of the billion-dollar conglomerate TLC Beatrice International. She is very active in social, civic, political and philanthropic activities for Filipinos in America and many other countries, especially in the Philippines.

I am taking special note of this because an article about Vice President Leni Robredo, which appeared in the Inquirer’s Lifestyle section of Aug. 7, 2016, made mention of Nicolas-Lewis.

Nevertheless, let me thank the Inquirer for this opportunity to share a thought.
