It’s not ‘Bongbong,’ it should be ‘Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’
THE INQUIRER ran an excellent series of articles on the 30th anniversary of the Edsa Revolution with a continuing theme: the need to preserve the hard-won gains of People Power.
President Aquino took to the stage to warn Filipinos of the danger of a return to the dictatorship.
In this regard, the Inquirer should lead the Philippine press to stress the President’s warning, not with bias or partiality, but simply by clearly and accurately reporting the full name of the dictator’s son: Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
He claims to be proud of his father’s legacy and, therefore, he should always be referred to as Ferdinand Marcos Jr. He should not be called Bongbong Marcos. He is Ferdinand Marcos Jr. His campaign coverage should state that Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is running for the vice presidency, a heartbeat away from the position his father held by force for decades.
Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is the legitimate son of Ferdinand Marcos and Imelda Romualdez Marcos. His DNA is biologically linked to many of the martial law administrators—from Fabian Ver to Kokoy Romualdez.
Let us be clear: Every voter should know what may be forgotten by media: A vote for Bongbong is a vote for Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
