High-quality, affordable education for PH young

12:00 AM June 16, 2015

In the news article titled “PH a ‘hot’ investment destination, says group,” the Oxford Business Group was reported to have lauded the Philippines’ “resounding economic success” which was attributed to the country’s key strengths: “human capital, young demographics and consumerist culture” (Business, 6/1/15).

Our next president should resolve to build on these. With young demographics as an asset, efforts should be directed at making accessible high quality but affordable education to our young. Creating good-paying jobs locally will attract the best minds to stay. This will even contribute to the tasks of building a stronger nation and strengthening family ties; and parents will not have to leave the homeland to find work and can as well stay here on decent wages and spend precious time raising their children.
