Assigned committees sked bill hearings

This refers to Janno Marko Montecristo’s letter (Opinion, 6/5/15).

Under the Rules of the Senate, after a bill is read and referred to the appropriate Senate committee, it is the discretion of the Senate committee to schedule a hearing. Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago follows up on her bills regularly with the Senate committees where her bills have been referred.

The proposed Anti-Signage of Public Works Act or the anti-epal bill was referred to the civil service and government reorganization committee, while the Jeepney Terminals and Stops Act was referred to the public services committee.

Montecristo may write to the chair of the Senate committees where the anti-epal bill and the Jeepney Terminals and Stops Act were referred to, to help expedite the passing of these bills.
