Now in P-Noy’s hands

Kudos and many thanks to Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares for assailing President Aquino’s refusal to implement the law that provides compensation to victims of human rights violations during martial law (News, 12/4/13).

Indeed, Colmenares hit the nail on the head when he pointed out in his privilege speech in Congress that “with the continued delay in the law’s implementation, many of the martial law human rights violations victims have been dying without getting official remuneration.”

Finally, as a human rights compensation claimant myself, I fervently appeal to President Aquino for the immediate creation of the Human Rights Victims Board that will oversee the distribution of the P10 billion to the victims before they die.
