Change people, not the system

/ 08:53 PM December 28, 2012

Though I appreciate the seeming support and suggestions of Romualdo Jubay in his letter to the editor last Dec. 26, I wish to clarify that I am not connected in any way with Kamag-anak sa Politika Aayawan Lahat (Kapal). I further clarify that I wholeheartedly support their cause which is parallel to ours and I am happy that more and more groups are coming out to boost the Krusada Kontra Dynasty’s (KKD) campaign to eradicate political dynasties in 2013.

In our KKD Bulletin No. 2 in the Inquirer last Sunday, Dec. 23, I stated the situation and actions to be taken by us in the next few weeks. However, we sincerely agree that we don’t expect Congress to act on the pending antidynasty bills prior to the mid-term elections. But we need to try and get the Supreme Court to compel it, prior to launching the nationwide People’s Initiative. This is the action that will require the help of every concerned, patriotic Filipino in all the congressional districts of our beautiful country. This action will for once bind our nation to implement the Art. II, Sec. 26 provision of our 1987 Constitution, as ratified by our people and totally ignored by the 8th to the 15th Congress by people we “elected” to represent us. And they swore to uphold and defend our Constitution! And we wonder why we are where we are? Greed has taken over public service. We need to change the people, not the system.

Let us for once prove that what Congress failed to do, we the people can.
