A line to bear in mind when dealing with China

In dealing  with China regarding the current standoff at the West Philippine Sea, our government would do well to bear in mind this quotation from the book “Currency Wars” by James Rickards:

“China often resists compromise in bilateral meetings, viewing requests for concessions as bullying and their assent as a loss of face.”
