Is pork barrel their sole reason for running?

09:35 PM March 15, 2012

Much has been said about the pork barrel of senators and congressmen. Every year a senator gets P200 million and each congressman, around P70 million. To say that it is the primary reason they run for election is an understatement.

Why don’t we have a moratorium in the release of pork barrel, i.e., let us give it to them only once in their term. The government can save a lot of money. More than P22.3 billion will be saved every year. Aside from that, only those who really want to help the nation will run.
