Solomonic solution should satisfy everyone

/ 01:28 AM November 12, 2011

That health Secretary Enrique Ona, a respected surgeon, cleared Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of any life-threatening condition warranting treatment abroad should be enough to show all that GMA can be competently treated here. That should be a non-issue anymore. If there are no legal cases being prepared against her, by all means let her seek medical treatment abroad (she can afford it). But she is the girl who cried wolf too often. She lied when she said she would not run in the 2004 presidential elections. She lied to the entire nation when she said she didn’t rig the election results, although she said sorry for calling a Comelec official.

Since then, her track record for honesty and transparency has been abysmal. The government should stand pat on its decision not to believe GMA when she said that she would return. The greater majority of Filipinos demand that she be made accountable for whatever crimes she may have committed against the nation. I wish and even pray that she fully recover from her spine and bone problems so she can have her day in court.

A Solomonic approach would be to fly in the foreign medical specialist/s (not that we don’t have local ones) to St Luke’s. St Luke’s touts itself as one of the best equipped hospitals in the world. I am sure that arrangement will work to almost everyone’s satisfaction.
