Clueless about land transport?
Public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers are starting to quit and switch to other jobs, not because they want to, but because they need to. Why? Gasoline price hikes have been unstoppable. And to hear incoming President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. say “malaking problema na nagtataasan ang lahat ng petroleum products, wala naman tayong magawa,” is adding to the piled-up hopelessness of Filipinos — not even a single glimpse of hope.
Once these drivers stop, there will be fewer PUVs transporting people to their work sites. It will be more difficult for commuters to get a ride, some will end up walking to work and back. Adding to the disappointment is hearing incoming transportation secretary Jaime Bautista say: “I don’t know much of problems in land transpo.”
Why appoint someone who has no idea about the most important aspect of the transport sector that affects millions of working class Filipinos?
