LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Dear Filipino voters

/ 04:10 AM March 02, 2022

Ferdinand Marcos Sr. imposed his own twisted conviction of good governance by declaring martial law in 1972. After his tyrannical reign, Filipinos vowed that politicians who share the same ideology as Marcos should not be seated in the presidential chair. But then, in 2016, Rodrigo Duterte happened.

Mr. Duterte swayed Filipinos because of his “unfiltered” and “outspoken” personality. He promised to eradicate drugs within six months and bring about change. A change that modified the Philippines into what we are today. He is similar to Marcos, if not worse.

We need to open our eyes and ask if we deserve this wretched situation.

My countrymen, heed our call and cry. We, the younger generation, are fighting atrocities committed by corrupt and evil politicians by posting memes, stating our opinions, attending rallies, and studying hard. This is our way to fight for our currently bleak future. Our generation is trying to break the cycle of hailing politicians as superior beings. Listen to your children, nieces, and nephews. Never undermine their opinions just because you are older than them. Lend us your ears and hands.
