Sanction public officials who get COVID-19

/ 05:01 AM March 23, 2021

While the pandemic is causing the public a great amount of trouble, public officials continue to flaunt their authority and their exemption from the application of public health protocols.

And when they and their subordinates get infected, they get away with it and just announce that their entire offices will be closed for two weeks of disinfection. So they stop performing their public functions and the people who want to do business with their offices are unable to do so for those two weeks.

Are these officials and their subordinates subject to sanctions? By no means. They will be out on paid vacation leaves.

I am one of those who strongly believe that these officials and their subordinates must have unpaid leaves for the duration of their quarantines, plus additional sanctions that the top officials must announce if they really mean business.

FEATURED STORIES

This would be an inducement for them to be careful and to faithfully observe the health protocols that our public health officials have laid down.
