Show of solidarity amid silent voices

04:01 AM February 18, 2020

This is in connection with the news, “Look: Post showing GMA News anchors wearing ABS-CBN colors goes viral,” (Inquirer.net, 2/12/20).

Since the present dispensation took power, critics have been subjected to aggressive and vicious attacks by the occupant in Malacañang. His henchmen have been making a living out of false claims by propagating fake news to make this administration look good and opponents appear bad.

In the face of evil efforts to silence critics and the obviously naked attempts to cancel the franchise or acquire the assets of ABS-CBN, it is heartening and emboldening to see GMA news anchors expressing solidarity with the rival network in its struggle to survive the onslaught of the oppressive executive.

The colors of the outfits worn by GMA news anchors Pia Arcangel, Vicky Morales, and Atom Araullo spoke volumes. Their show of solidarity makes us wonder why the normally verbose trio of Noli de Castro, Ted Failon, and Anthony Taberna, ABS-CBN’s most “prominent” anchors whose stentorian voices have been filling the airwaves for years, are surprisingly silent.

Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the Palace has nothing to do with the quo warranto petition of Solicitor General Jose Calida. But Calida’s history of prevarications is legendary.
