Attila in foreign affairs

The editorial, “Walking scurrility” (11/9/19) railed against Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr.’s profanities and his so-called “inexhaustible supply of scurrilities.”

In the history of the Department of Foreign Affairs, which is known for strict diplomacy and tactfulness, Locsin now bears the unique distinction of having the savoir faire of Attila the Hun and having no qualms about uttering “p—ng ina” to a nationwide or worldwide audience. What a record to remember him by!

Given that his boss, President Duterte, also practically ends every sentence he makes with “p—ng ina,” we get it. But by what right did the unelected Locsin assume that he could do the same?

Can we then blame foreigners for thinking the Filipinos, as represented by him abroad, are really just a bunch of barbarians?

But then again, Locsin has another stock in trade ready to respond to that: F—ck you!

Oh, brother, how did we ever come to this?
