Pass law regulating plastic use

05:02 AM January 21, 2019

I read “Luntiang Pilipinas asks Filipinos: junk plastics” (1/13/19) by Melvin Gascon and I support the move.

Sen. Loren Legarda said Filipinos produce some 40,000 tons of garbage yearly and that the Philippines is the third largest ocean plastic polluter in the world after China and Indonesia. This is disappointing; awareness is definitely a must.

I hope senators will vote for Senate Bill No. 1948, which seeks to regulate the use of plastics and offer incentives to businesses and individuals transitioning to nonplastics.
