No special treatment for politicians

I concur with the opinion of Navotas Rep. Tobias Tiangco on the proposed ban on the use of protocol plates (11/15/18).

Politicians and ordinary Filipinos are just the same. Our “godlike” approach to them, pampering them with royal-like perks that include adding the “Honorable” title — a temporary knockoff of the British royal knighthood — enflames their blazing egos even more.

Yes, they deserve respect just like everybody else. No more, no less.

Their seat in public office should not be indulged with perks that give them elite privileges and separate their social status from ordinary Filipinos.
