‘Thick face’ is the new normal
This is regarding the editorial “Cancel his ‘special accommodation’” (10/25/18), which reminded us about the “humanitarian grounds” on which the Supreme Court justices granted bail to former Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile in a nonbailable plunder case, believing that he was dying and that
being incarcerated was no way for such a “distinguished gentleman” to spend the last days of his life.
The editorial failed to mention former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, on whom the justices also obviously took pity, given the sight of that ubiquitous brace around her neck as if her head would fall off the rest of her frail and wheelchair-bound body without it.
They bent over backward to set her free from all plunder charges against her.

Did the Supreme Court justices who were blatantly deceived by their pretenses have any problem being made to look like fools?
Is there any chance they would take back their decision — and apologize to the Filipino people for such manifest “betrayal of public trust”?
