Consequence to impeachment move

/ 05:10 AM September 06, 2018

Do Rep. Edcel Lagman and three other opposition congressmen know of the fallout that will happen should the seven justices who voted to oust Maria Lourdes Sereno be impeached?

Are they aware that such impeachment will give President Duterte the opportunity to pack the Supreme Court with his fellow San Bedans like former justice secretary Justice Vitaliano Aguirre II, former speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, his personal legal adviser Salvador Panelo, and other San Bedans of that ilk?

With the three branches of the government under his control, President Duterte will virtually be a dictator.

But if history repeats itself, there will be another people’s revolution, this time a violent one, because a dictator will not give up his powers peacefully.
