From democracy to kakistocracy

It’s a good thing Solita Monsod is not a lawyer. If she were, the majority of the Supreme Court members she targeted in her column could play dirty and have her disbarred for casting aspersion upon the “honor” of the Supreme Court itself — or whatever is left of it (“‘Honorable’ Supreme Court?”, 6/16/18).

That’s how super sensitive they are when their pride gets hurt, but totally callous when they insult the people’s intelligence with their outlandish decisions!

Look at the way they are treating former chief justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Not content with ousting her in the most unconstitutional and unceremonious manner, they also want to “remove her from the country’s roll of attorneys” for speaking out against the “sanctity” of their decision (“Sereno: I was just defending myself,” 6/16/18).

Having no qualms whatsoever about giving “the rule of law a bad name” and turning the Supreme Court itself into a “failed institution,” those “gods of Padre Faura” are now really behaving like spoiled brats. And the saddest thing is, there is not a darned thing anyone can do about it.

All this mess is thanks to 16 million people who turned our democracy into a kakistocracy!
