‘Can anyone own the beach?’
One thing that can be envied about our country is our weather and how our archipelago is laid out. It is really paradise unless you dream of cold and ice.
We have sandy beaches, excellent coastlines to behold. That is why our government has to be commended for their vigor in cleaning up Boracay.
But I hope it doesn’t stop there. I hope the government sends a clear message to people who own establishments or residences along the coastline to leave some public access.
A lot of establishments and resorts here in Luzon have the habit of fencing beyond the shores into the sea, and most are concreted walls. Aside from being an eyesore, aren’t those illegal? Can anyone own the beach?
Their establishments’ property lines should only be to an extent that it doesn’t infringe on public access.
Our country is one big Boracay, but locals are not able to enjoy the coastlines because some greedy people are restricting their access.
Aren’t citizens of this country, at the very least, allowed to enjoy their homeland?
