Only temporary removal

/ 05:04 AM December 09, 2017

This refers to the article “DPWH topples Bonifacio centennial monument in Makati” (Lifestyle, 11/20/17) by Edgar Allan M. Sembrano.

In the article,  Sembrano said the Department of Public Works and Highways toppled the Andres Bonifacio monument to make way for the road project linking  Bonifacio Global City in Taguig and  Ortigas Center in Pasig.

According to project director Virgilio C. Castillo of DPWH Unified Project Management Office-Roads Management Cluster I, the temporary removal of the Bonifacio monument in Makati Park and Garden is for the purpose of its preservation while the construction of the Bonifacio Global City-Ortigas Link Road Project, which includes Sta. Monica to Lawton Avenue to Global Viaduct, is ongoing.

The temporary removal was properly coordinated with the Makati City government, which in turn issued permits.
