Rugged trek on Edsa pavement

This refers to a half-kilometer span of rough, uncut pavement along Edsa, between Robinsons Galleria and SM Megamall, where thousands of pedestrians tread 24 hours a day.

Pacing down that long, rugged trek is, literary, draining blood, sweat and tears from small people—wage earners who, like most of us, are taxpayers, too.

For once, let’s not point fingers and blame the past for the ills of today. After years of apparent calm, peace and quiet, our citizenry can now look deeper, think better and act wisely.

Yes, even from nooks and corners, anywhere we are, we can do our share of civic duty: Call up, write up our views and concerns over what we read, hear or see around us.
