Salaciousness in aid of legislation

I am sure I am one of the many who took heart from Randy David’s latest column (“Do lawmakers have a sexual life?”, Opinion, 11/27/16). The clarity, humanity and equanimity of his reflections render a public service, particularly in the present circumstances, when there is much muddying of waters by some lawmakers.

There is nothing uplifting when a crowd of men gang up on an embattled woman by means of salacious probing in the name of legislation. They must take the public for fools and perverts. May they be reminded that a nation that produces compassionate nurses, fine music and the “Yolanda” spirit has sensibilities that can be ignored only at their political peril.
