It’s time everyone realized that motions for reconsideration in the Supreme Court amount to nothing more than a “consuelo de bobo” to the losing party. That supposed window for another chance to sway the Supreme Court from its original decision is more illusory than real. Nine out of 10 such motions end up in the trash can. The fate of the one remaining hinges on the next time the “supermoon” (or perhaps, that well-known “superlawyer”!) “appears” once again.
Seriously, does anyone really expect any of the nine justices, who voted to virtually declare former president Ferdinand Marcos a “hero,” to change their freaking minds? The way things are in our local version of “Mount Olympus,” the gods there do feel “supreme” and are totally loath to admit that they commit mistakes. It’s all just hubris.
Those who oppose Marcos’ interment among the heroes and men of honor had better take another aim, instead of pinning any hope on a hairline possibility that any three of the nine justices would do a “mea culpa” and, conscience-stricken, join the five dissenters. They should start mobilizing and reenergizing “people power” if they want this country saved from the monumental insult our “highest court of the land” has foisted on the whole nation and the whole world.
If already a fait accompli as of this time, would it not be more dramatic to have the rotten body exhumed and thrown in any dump right next to the Supreme Court premises?
