The opinion of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV that our President is a communist because he has ties with China, frees communist leaders and appoints them is stupid.
The President’s negative remarks against the leaders of the United States, the United Nations and the European Union were, most probably, triggered by their negative statements regarding summary killings and human rights violations in our country; there were even insinuations of bringing the matter to the International Criminal Court and these irked him.
Many countries have tried to eradicate the drug menace, spending billions of dollars. But they failed. Here comes a new leader who gambles his life for the cause because many heinous crimes have been linked to the use of illegal drugs. Former president Joseph Estrada said that 98 percent of Metro Manila barangays have been infiltrated by drug dealers. Even former president Benigno Aquino III and his former PNP chief doubt that Mr. Duterte can resolve the drug problem in less than a year.
Our President was perhaps dismayed because instead of helping, like what a Chinese billionaire did (he put up a rehabilitation facility in Nueva Ecija, which is capable of accommodating about 20,000 patients), those leaders kept on criticizing and warning the President.
If we go to war with China over a territorial dispute, there will be no immediate help from the United States which will need the approval of the US Congress before it can do so. By the time help comes, all Filipinos may already be gone following a barrage of intercontinental ballistic missiles and other weapons of mass destruction as the Philippines becomes a battleground.
Today, President Duterte is the only Filipino leader with the strongest determination to make life in the country better, not only for a few but for all the Filipino people and generations to come. He has the guts to say or do anything because he sincerely believes that it is for the good of his countrymen and he feels this in his heart.
We, the Filipino people, should pray to Almighty God that no untoward incident will ever happen to our beloved President and if possible to extend his life because he is not a communist.
