This refers to the article “Ex-Pagcor chair, 10 others face plunder, graft charges” (News, 10/25/16), which is about the alleged irregular payment—to a private company—of P234 million for the rental of a “nonexistent” property last year. The chair being referred to by the article is actually Cristino Naguiat Jr. who was appointed by then President Benigno Aquino III.
Prior to Naguiat, there was Efraim Genuino, who was the Pagcor chair during the presidency of Gloria Arroyo. Genuino, together with some of his officials and staff, was later slapped with several cases of plunder and corruption, more than what Naguiat is facing.
Looks like nothing is happening to those cases against Genuino et al., and here we are again, filing plunder and malversation cases against Genuino’s successor.
Can anybody say something about the status of the Genuino cases? Or shall we just content ourselves to spending more taxes and expect nothing will happen to those who plundered the people’s money?
