Use of raised fist by Prez & co. ‘comical’

The raised-fist gesture was used by victims of oppression by Ferdinand Marcos. It is linked in particular, historically, to the labor movement, the working class, in defiance of the ruling class, which really should not be using it.

For Prez Duterte & Co. to use it seems comical, if not arrogant, particularly for those among them who never did when Dictator Macoy and Dictatress Meldy were in power as conjugal tyrants.

Indeed, Digong seems to idolize Macoy and Hitler, whose Jewish Holocaust victims he halved to 3 million.

The Palace should go back to ancient times (read: Assyria) for the history of the raised fist, and its use, say, by Black American Tommie Smith in 1968 in the Mexico Olympics as a “human rights salute.”

What in hell is the relation of Digong to human rights?

The symbol is also associated with the Black Panthers, Nelson Mandela, Bernie Sanders and Black Lives Matter.

The gesture may not be inappropriate for Black American Barack Obama, a member of a vilified and persecuted race, but inapt for Hillary and The Donald, WASPs. She, Methodist; he, Presbyterian.

But, who oppresses the new ruling class led by Digong, the new Emperor of Metro Manila? I don’t recall anyone among them raising a fist against the Dictator and Dictatress. In fact, no one among them opposes the transfer of Macoy’s remains to the Libingan ng mga Bayani, from where I sit.

Maybe Digong and his Cabinet should just stick to the dirty-finger-you-are-No.-1 gesture. (And I know who exactly may be just the one to rehearse and drill the Cabinet.)

To me it was not nice for Obama to refuse the invite to go to hell, which is what we have now in Metro Manila traffic. In “Inferno,” Dan Brown placed the gates of hell here, where Digong tells Obama to go.
