Manny Pacquiao disqualifies himself as a public official if indeed he is fighting again in the future opposite any boxer he and his promoter would pick. If he fights again, Pacman would only prove himself to be a certified “someone” who has succeeded to “you know” the Filipino voters in the last elections.
Instead of beating the moronic supplications coming from “tweaks and wiggles” in the sport whose chief concern is their pockets’ welfare, the “noble” and wayward “icon” seems to have been equally mesmerized by the glitter of gold and has succumbed to its siren calls. This is tantamount to betraying the nation, the people and the Lord he so professes to love and serve.
It’s getting clearer by the day. Top Rank’s Bob Arum pushed Pacquiao to make himself available for another fight, but may the Bible-bearing Pacquiao proceed not. He should be helping make laws. Or he can resign and be a full-time boxer. “You cannot serve God and mammon.” Enough of political treason. Stop the Manny fight talks.
Will the Senate leadership bite the bait?
It’s a big “thumbs down” to Vargas, Crawford, Garcia, Thurman, Alvarez or Mayweather. This is what a Pacquiao circus this year, or any year thereafter, will be. And we say no to all future Pacman fights except versus Arum, Michael Koncz, Freddie Roach, boxing jerks and Pacquiao himself. “A wise man gets more use from his enemies, than a fool from his friends” (Baltasar Gracian).
Honor, character and piety are eternally above money. Mundane things don’t gauge a man’s worth. If a politician isn’t careful with his ways and thought patterns and in choosing his “buddies” and associates, everything is possible for him to be transformed into a beast and the worst of its kind. “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life” (Proverbs 4:23).
To Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao: Until you are truly and fully retired from being an active boxer, shame on us if we address you “senator.”
