Letter to my former comrades

When I joined the Movement, I was proud to be in the company of men and women who were surely selfless. Intellectuals gave up their careers, sacrificed their families’ welfare, and risked life and limb, all in the pursuit of ending tyranny and an unjust social structure and system. Except for a meager allowance just enough for us to survive from day to day, we received no material reward. We were grim and determined to fight on even though we felt that victory may not be attained during our lifetime. Truly it was ironic: We were fired up by idealism but guided by dialectical materialism.

By December 1985, after eight years with the Communist Party of the Philippines, my idealism had been totally shattered. That year I was told by a ranking political officer about the party’s sacrifice of innocent lives so that their death would be blamed on government forces (I can’t say for sure if this was true, but for me at that time, there were indications that it was). There was internal strife within the party, and after I had left it, I learned that there was an eventual split, that very many others had also left, and—the most ghastly news I heard—that a big number of our comrades were executed on orders of the CPP top leaders, on suspicion of being “deep penetration agents” or “informers.”

Now, 30 long years later, I believe I now understand how horrific some people can become when they are consciously guided by dialectical materialism. One example of the CPP’s dialectics is the unity of the opposites: means and end. By this dictum, any means justifies the end.

In scientific materialism, what you see is what you get. Everything is machinelike and therefore predetermined; atoms that make up all matter are inert. It asserts that nature is purposeless and with no direction, that development is by random mutation, and that in life, only the fittest survive. It further says that memories and brain activity are stored as material traces in the brain, and that all psychic phenomena are illusory.

To my former comrades, I say: You call your enemies reactionary but you do not realize that your very ideology is reactionary. Scientific materialism arose as a reaction to religious dogma! You are merely using modern dogma to counter premodern dogma.  I urge you to take heed of the scientific findings of some modern and now postmodern physicists and other scientists which are collectively referred to as the New Science (Unified Field Theory—the unification of quantum mechanics with the theory of relativity). Please do not be afraid to discover the bankruptcy of scientific materialism which is the driving force of democratic economies, and which is also propelling our planet toward its impending demise, what with the unabated exploitation and greed it spawns.

Your declared vision of an economic and social system where all property and resources are collectively owned by a classless society is certainly to be desired. But it can never be achieved via the practice of an ideology that does not recognize soul, that is bereft of spirit. A classless society that shares resources can only come about when humanity becomes aligned with the driving force of creation. New Science has found that what we have been told is just empty space, a vacuum, full of energy, and that this vacuum is actually the source of creation, of the material world.

New Science has found that our very own body is actually composed of 99.99999 percent of space and that space is full of information. That space informs us as we too inform the space with our thoughts and emotions like a biofeedback mechanism. A beautiful illustration of this is the work of Masaru Emoto with water droplets. When he exposes a droplet to negative words, it forms very ugly crystals, but when a droplet is exposed to words of love, it forms beautiful crystals.

From Nassim Haramein’s “Fractal Holographic Unified Field Theory,” we learn that all of the universe is expressed in a single proton, which is both holographic and in fractal patterns which go infinitely downward and upward. This should give us an idea of our true nature.

This New Science is exciting! It debunks both materialist science dogma and religious dogma. It, however, explains the truth of what mystics from all the great religious traditions have been trying to teach us, but this time using the language and tools of science. Max Planck, the originator of quantum theory and a 1918 Nobel Prize winner for physics, has this to say: “There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter.”

I urge my former comrades who are truly fired up with idealism to look deeply into the obvious fallacy of dialectical materialism and align their idealist energy with the creative force.
