SENATOR Leila de Lima cries “foul” and “below the belt” over President Duterte’s allegation about her amorous liaison with her married driver-bodyguard. To her it’s improper and uncalled for.
Under Section 46, Rule 10 of the Revised Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service, an immorality or immoral conduct of a government officer or employee may be punished by suspension or dismissal from service. That is a law. Is Senator De Lima saying a charge of immorality, an act administratively punishable by law, “foul” and uncalled for?
When she publicly accused not too long ago that Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was responsible for the summary executions of those involved in drug traffic in Davao City, she branded him without moral values. Did she expect Duterte to cry “foul” or “below the belt”? Now that the tables have been turned on her, she says the charge of immorality against her is “foul” or “below the belt.”
Should not a national leader, more so if she is female, be an example of morality and moral values?
