‘Pinoy pie-in-the-sky’ nonsense

I HAVE long admired former Akbayan representative Walden Bello for his principles, but I fear he’s caught up in the usual “Pinoy pie-in-the-sky” nonsense regarding the Marcos burial controversy (“Resting place may not be final, says ex-solon,” News, 8/12/16).

To point to the way Libyans treated Moammar Gadhafi’s corpse after their coup totally confuses Arab culture with ours. Those people have guts while Filipinos are spineless creatures who like to fall back on the hoary claim that ours is “the only Christian country in Asia.” No one stops to ask how all this lack of principles and reliance on superstitious beliefs have kept this nation bogged down in the mad morass it has been in for decades.

As someone has pointed out, this country is full of delayed adolescents and clowns who have no interest in nation-building.
