Signatory denies being part of DFF

Apparently a paid advertisement, a statement purportedly issued by the so-called Democratic Front for Filipinism (DFF) was printed on page 20 of section A of the Aug. 13, 2016 issue of the Inquirer. The ad included a list of names of persons who allegedly signed the statement.

The document, titled “An Open Letter to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Our Fellow Filipinos,” was supposedly signed on Aug. 8, 2016, at Heroes Hall, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. A video of the event, uploaded on YouTube, shows a number of persons, who were not even able to fill all the seats around a long table, in a meeting presided over by Aglipayan Bishop Nilo Tayag.

On the the list of the signatories to the statement was the name “CaridadMagpantay” who was tagged as “Suprema Caring” of a group purportedly called the “Rebolusyunaryong Hukbong Bayan or RHB.”

My name is Caridad Magpantay.  Though there may be other CaridadMagpantays, I categorically would like to make it clear that I am not part of the purported “Supreme Council of the DFF” and of this whole scheme initiated by Bishop Nilo S. Tayag. I was not present in the Aug. 8, 2016 meeting in Pampanga.

I denounce this malicious design and disinformation.

—Caridad M. Magpantay, victim of human rights violations under the Marcos regime
