Jumping into marriage without really understanding it

/ 12:10 AM July 15, 2016

In light of renewed efforts to legalize divorce in the Philippines, we need to step back and ask ourselves what marriage really is.

Marriage is more than just man and woman coming together; it is also about bringing forth children. Allowing divorce will reduce marriage into an adult-centric institution, thus stripping marriage of its essence—that is, its being about building a family. Divorce has the effect of emptying marriage of its meaning by blurring the line between domestic partnerships.

Perhaps we lack an understanding of what marriage really is and jump into it with the wrong attitude and expectations.
